Mould Opening and Closing Mechanism Development Using
HyperWorks
Marcello Ostorero, Bottero
Glass producers every day ask to machines an increasing series
of performance and targets, in which the most
important is the cycle time reducing, in order to increase
productivity.
According to these request, Bottero has developed
a new generation of mould opening/closing
mechanisms, which main characteristics are the high movement
speed, the
parallel
mould movement and the assembly compatibility
with old versions.
A large number of space constraints and requests were present
at the beginning of the project, and the reduction of components
mass is the base to ensure high movement speed.
The Altair HyperWorks suite has been used in all project
phases, in order to find the correct moving strategy, the
optimal components shape, and verify the component resistance
under ordinary use and misuse.
